Great Scott!
A series of movies everyone should watch atleast once a year: Back to the future! I popped in 2 and 3 this weekend, and gadamn if it isnt one of the most awesome trilogies ever! The SFX STILL hold up gadamn fantastically, especially by todays standards. So many movies i've seen today that just dont manage to immerse you in the film like these did.

Also, Flying Train is right up there with this

I can say that all 3 are really good and I still enjoy watching them. 2 is by far my favorite outta the 3. ^^

"Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads..."

One of the best trilogy films ever.

Hmmm usually my friends and I watch the first two and then pretend that the third doesn't exist. XD

Like most trilogies, the third is TERRRRRRIBLE.

The first one by far is my favorite. Part 2 was when I was little, but I didn't know any better. O:) (it was the only BttF I saw in theatres so that may have played a role).

For me the 3rd one is great by trilogy standards, it has a hard time following part 2 which was just so vivid and action packed, but for being the conclusion to the series it wasnt that bad.

The first one is the one i've seen the least cos as a kid it just couldnt hold up to flying cars and hover boards. Watching it now i love it for the brilliant story writing, but i just lump em all as one whole thing now, from end to end a great series.

Yeah dude. The hover boards and shit is what I LOVED as a kid. But as an adult, after I realised that was only like 20 minutes of the movie my interest waned. There was some good action and some great situations though in part 2.

And I will agree with you that Part 3 is probably one of the better trilogy enders. I mean ... nothing can be as bad as X3. :\

Or TMNT3. >_

oh GOD yeah even as a kid who was a TMNT fanatic i saw that part 3 stunk from 100 miles away, to this day the only knowledge i have of that flick is the few awful snippits i saw in gamer nerds review of it XD

The second one was always my least favorite. I don't really know why. The feel of it is different to me compared to #1 and #3.

#3 is awesome for one reason: steampunk Doc Brown.

Yesss. I remember that. And Biff as a dinosaur in one episode.

Did you know Biff is a stand-up comic now?

The BttF DVDs actually made some of the special effects stand out more. I could see the wires carrying the hoverboards in a few shots. :(

I bet in the Blu ray you can make out the spray paint on the wood they're surfing on.

Hmm... I suppose. They were okay back then.
Not much of BTTF fan myself, but they were pretty well made for their time.

Sorry, can't help it butthat picture just reminded me of this review by Nostalgiacritic... http://www.thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/thatguywiththeglasses/nostalgia-critic/5748-neverending-story :D

Did you know they're remaking the Neverending Story?

Seriously. This reinventing the 80s thing is getting nuts.

I never did like that movie much so maybe the remake would be better for me. I mean ... after I learned years later why the horse died in the first one and Atreyu was fine I just couldn't stop laughing. I pulled something that day. XD

The pacing isn't very good, admittedly. But it's one of those movies from my childhood I can't help but love. Why did the horse die and Atreyu live? I always thought it was just, Atreyu kept pushing on and the horse gave up.

Personally, I hope they make Gamork a hot werewuff in the next one. :D

The way my friend worded it (and the tone helped) was "The horse died because it gave up hope." That just sounded too silly to me. ^^;

You people and yer friggin werewolves. ;) *looks* Well the original creature effect wasn't bad. Looks mean enough. :)

Ugh. In the book it was made clear that it was a magical effect of the swamps that caused one to fall to despair and sink into the muck, and that Atreyu only survived because he had the AURYN amulet, not because he was stronger-willed.

If they remake it I sure hope they stick to the book more. ~:(

One of these days i need to read that book. Everyone i know hates the sequel even tho i've been told it follows the main plot points of the book, i hated the main kids acting in part 2 but i loooooooved the SFX, nimbly was a great piece of costume by the standards of those days :O

It follows the main plot points of the book in only the vaguest possible sense. Like I watched it and went, "Well, I guess that KIND OF looks like the dragon from the book ... sort of? And that character was in the book, except she had totally different motivations and stuff ..."

Definitely read the book; it's my favorite book of all time, ever since I was a kid. <3 But try and find a hardback version of it! It's way better printed in red and green (the paperbacks print in regular and italics which is bullshit).

It's a bit odd because the first two movies are more or less the first and second halves of the book, and the second movie picks up at about the halfway point. It's been a while since I've read the book, but the only major difference that immediately comes to mind is the ending.

I think people didn't like The Next Chapter because Bastian is a bit of a dick for most of the film (which is pretty much in lock-step with how he acts in the book once he's in the world of Fantasia), and there's this whole subtext of "reading is fundamental" that is utterly lost on the silver screen.

LOL I'll agree with Back to the future.

However , Falcor used to freak me out as a kid (a dragon with fur .. something was awfully wrong about that in my mind XD)

and still does a bit :P

Falkor made me realize a dragon could be anything as long as it was big and long XD

I was always throw by its puppy face but it made him sooooooo much more loveable IMO XD
