Alternative to reality
THEY ALMOST GOT ME!!!

I was hanging with Jace and Skant when they showed me a new game on Playstation Network called Flower.

It is unarguably the most beautiful, and serene game i've ever played. Its beyond calm and atmospheric, totally making you feel like you've been whisked away to a wide open field of solitude surrounded by nothing but the sounds of nature and the wind.

Later that evening i was telling a friend of mine about it and he said "so you need to spend $10 and sit on the couch to get in touch with nature?"

MEGATON!

I ALMOST bought Flower till he made me realize that! I already have a hillside covered in grass and nature in my own back yard i dont play with! Why would i spend 10 fish skins to do it in front of a big screen!?

I cant stress enough how beautiful and amazingly detailed this game is, but its just damn retarded when the entire focus of a game is to substitute a pleasant spring day :b

I remember when I first got full HD and I looked away and thought something was wrong with my eyes. Hey Real life isn't properly backlit or in full detail.

Yeah, but it would be nice and refreshing to have on a shitty dark blizzardy day in the middle of winter. ~:3

I came to a similar realization about ten years ago when out hiking in the hills with a couple friends... I couldn't stop myself from saying, "Wow, this is beautiful! It looks like something out of a MYST game!"

I immediately realized I should have probably gotten out more.

Don't forget it came out in the middle of winter ;P

And, frankly, I personally can't fly! Just sit there with my butt on the ground and stare up. I'll take what I can get in the 'drifting on the breeze' department, even if it has to come in a videogame.

Sounds like a good thing for winter, or folks who live in dirty crappy cities and can't get out into the country very often.

Acutally the game really emphasizes the getting away from the cold gray city in the intro :3

I'm thinking that, if you lived in, say, Tokyo....

Endless Ocean on the Wii is just about as serene as Flower, if not moreso thanks to Hayley Westenra's bee-YOU-tiful voice, and at least it replaces something not everybody can do often -- scuba diving. XD
